We Have Been In The Article Marketing Business Since 2001
We started writing our own articles for the promotion of our online business endeavors in 2000. We studied carefully and meticulously adhered to the rules of the article distribution channels available in those early days, to enhance our ability to reach more and larger Internet publishers.
In early 2001, we were starting to tire of the 2-3 hour process connected to the manual distribution of one article... So I taught myself how to do website programming, and I built my own article distribution software.
One of my online contacts asked me how I was able to get such a large reach for the articles I had written... I shared the secret of my home-built article distribution service...
Then the light bulb went off...
My online friend asked me if I could provide the same service to them for a fee... It was in this moment that I decided to start offering the use of my article distribution software as a service.
Six months later in September of 2001, I launched The Phantom Writers dot Com to provide article ghost writing and article distribution services to the public.
The Concept Of Article Marketing Is Easy To Comprehend... But The Devil Is In The Details...
In my experience, I have known people who say that article marketing does not work AND I have known people who say that they rely upon article marketing to help them drive their seven-figure per year business to new heights.
Both groups of people include some really smart people, but their article marketing results have been very different...
These very different results naturally cause people to question the validity of one view over another...
Some suggest that the seven-figure per year earners only use article marketing to add one more promotion channel to their arsenal of online marketing tools, but the truth is that many of the top-earners became seven-figure per year earners, because they started their Internet marketing careers writing articles.
Consider These Testimonials About Article Marketing:
"Writing articles has brought me fame and fortune. And they can do the same thing for you. Writing articles and submitting them to online publications is one of the most effective ways to get free advertising for your business!"
Joe Vitale, #1 Best-Selling Author - "Spiritual Marketing"
Mr Fire.com
"Promoting with articles creates large streams of steady and continuous traffic that comes to your website as a result of you taking just a few simple actions once... and you continue receiving that traffic for many weeks, months and even years after you performed the action. In fact, just by writing and distributing free articles on the Internet (something that gets pretty easy once you start doing it) you will become recognized as a world-class expert on the topic of your choice and you will have people seeking you out for all kinds of lucrative opportunities... promoting with articles represents one of the best ways to not only get FREE traffic, but to build your business and your reputation online as well!"
Jim Edwards
Author and co-author of numerous e-books and info-products
I Gotta Tell You.com
"Submitting your own content to directories and sites set up for this purpose is one of my favorite , risk-free methods of generating high-quality, targeted traffic. It’s been a steady source of traffic for me since I first came online in 1996 and decided to try article marketing.
I’ll even go as far as to assert that it’s “BETTER” than pay-per-click traffic.
The reason that this traffic is generally better is that the visitors arrives at your site pre-sold on you. Your content proved your expertise and now they want more. You provide them with valuable content, so they may even feel a special connection with you, and a sense of needing to repay your generosity."
...
"It’s my CONTENT that pushed me to #1 on Google.
It’s my CONTENT, and links from my content, that keeps me at #1 on Google for all of my relevant keywords."
Willie Crawford - Joint Venture Expert
Willie has been teaching people to build a legitimate online business since 1996. He is one of the world’s leading website traffic generation experts.

You might think that I am going out on a limb here, but if you know the names of any of the above-mentioned people, I bet you know their names, because you have read some of the articles they have written and given to publishers.
- In my case, I learned about Joe Vitale when I read one of his articles about hypnotic copywriting.
- I learned about Jim Edwards when I read one of his articles about operating an online business.
- I learned about Willie Crawford, when he became one of my customers in 2002. I consider his articles to be among the must-read articles that I distribute for my customers.
How To Succeed With Article Marketing...
Learn From The Pros...
When you are wanting to learn how to be successful in any field of endeavor, do you follow the instructions of people who tell you that something will never work? Or do you take your guidance from people who have been successful with the process?
More to the point...
Are you going to listen to those who have failed as article marketers? Are you willing to never try this promotional method for yourself?
OR, are you going to listen to and learn from those who have become successful article marketers, so that you can duplicate what they have done in their online marketing careers?
Those Who Have Failed With Article Marketing Suggest....
- The only purpose of article marketing is to get a link back to your website from a third-party website...
- You only need to write a 300-500 word article....
- You don't need to spend much time writing your articles...
- The purpose of articles is to promote your website, so don't be afraid to use promotional language in your articles...
- You should focus on including your target keywords in your articles for SEO purposes...
- You should place links to your website in the body of your articles...
- Don't worry about writing good content... Worry about writing more content...
- You should try to put keywords in the anchor text of ALL of the links pointing to your website...
- Don't bother making sure your articles pass the "smell test", because the search engines only care about the links to your website...
- Oh yeah... The ways we recommended before don't work anymore, because Google will penalize your website if you put the same article on more than one website... So you should use article spinner software to make unique copies of your article for placement on the various websites...
Those Who Have Succeeded With Article Marketing Advise....
- If you focus on helping your readers solve problems, your articles will find publication on more websites and will reach a larger human audience...
- Most online publishers really do review all articles, before they publish any articles...
- The most respected online publishers are credible, because they focus on publishing only the best article content...
- While publication on websites will help your organic search engine rankings, publication of your articles in online newsletters can deliver regular surges of traffic to your website...
- Good article title's get your articles opened and reviewed for potential publication...
- The first few paragraphs of an article will get the whole article read... or not...
- If the article pleases the publisher, the publisher (whether a website publisher or newsletter publisher) will be strongly inclined to publish your article...
- Your article's resource box (about the author information) which accompanies your article needs to accomplish five very important goals:
1) tell people who you are;
2) tell people how you can help them;
3) provide a strong call-to-action, to deliver the reader to your website;
4) provide keyword links to your website for the search engines; and
5) provide a plain text copy of your URL, so that the link to your website is not lost by newbie publishers.
- Your article's resource box should not be used to sell your products and services... The number of words you are typically given in an author's resource box is not enough to close a sale, so your goal should be to get a reader to your website, where you have enough time and space to sell your products and services in a more effective manner...
- The purpose of your article's resource box is not to brag about what awards, qualifications, certifications or degrees you might have acquired... Your article's reader wants to know only one thing... What can you do for them?
- Shorter author resource boxes tend to produce better click-through traffic results than long author resource boxes... You should try to achieve the five goals of your resource box as defined above, but you should also try to keep your words few, when possible...
- Some publishers will automatically reject any article that has links in the body of the article...
- Other publishers prefer an article to reference third-party web pages in the body of the article, to enable their readers to learn more about a given topic...
- Most publishers who prefer links in the body of an article frown on "self-promotional links" in the body of the article, unless those links contribute to the lesson being taught... (Willie Crawford is the master of this type of article...)
- Nearly all publishers will reject an article that has keyword links in the body of an article... Publishers tend to believe that the article's resource box is the only place where an author should provide self-promoting keyword links...
- Webmasters tend to require a minimum of 500 words for the articles they choose to publish... but not always...
- Newsletter publishers tend to only publish articles that easily fit into their newsletter templates... As a result, newsletter publishers prefer to publish articles that have between 700-1200 words, although they will sometimes print articles of up to 1600 words in length...
- Google and the other search engines DO NOT penalize articles that are published in more than one location...
- By controlling the placement of every word in your article, you gain the advantage of being able to appropriately manage your reputation through your article's content... (Never trust a computer to write content that has the power to define your reputation...)
- You can include related keywords in your articles, to help influence the search engines, but you should always put the needs of the human reader above the desires of the search engines...
- The purpose of your article is to entertain, educate, or inform your readers... not to directly sell your products and services... Publishers tend to reject any article that reads more like sales copy than information...
- An article that is written first for people and for the search engines second will always out-perform an article that focuses only on the search engines...

Welcome to The Phantom Writers dot Org. This website might be called a mirror
website for The Phantom Writers dot Com, but this website is different in its layout
and presentation.
We were forced to "mirror up", when our dot com website went down in May of 2009,
for a lengthy sixteen days. We resolved never to be caught in the same trap again.
This was when and why our Dot Org was born.
